AFT-NH Endorses Cinde Warmington for Governor
MANCHESTER, NH — Today, the American Federation of Teachers-New Hampshire (AFT-NH) endorsed Cinde Warmington for governor, highlighting Cinde’s longstanding support for public education. AFT-NH represents over 3,500 workers across the Granite State, including teachers, nurses and public health professionals, paraprofessionals, and public employees.
“As a proud product of public schools, it is an honor to have the support of AFT-NH in our campaign to deliver for working families and make life more affordable for Granite Staters,” said Cinde Warmington. “Public education is the bedrock of our democracy and gives every child a real shot at the future. It’s about time that our state’s educators had a real fighter in their corner who will stand up against the property tax-hiking private school voucher scheme and put the needs of working Granite Staters first.”
“During her two terms on the Executive Council, we could always count on Cinde to champion public education and the needs of the students we teach,” said Deb Howes, AFT-NH President. “Cinde understands that a quality education is essential to empowering the next generation of Granite Staters. Educators across the state — and the communities they serve — need Cinde fighting for them in the governor’s office.”
Cinde believes public dollars belong in public schools and will end the private school voucher scheme that is driving up Granite Staters’ property taxes. In addition to opening up the floodgates for vouchers to be used by the wealthiest families in the state, Kelly Ayotte’s own Attorney General has now asked the Supreme Court to overturn landmark rulings establishing the state’s constitutional obligation to provide every child with an adequate public education.
Along with AFT-NH’s endorsement, Cinde has earned the support of other labor organizations across New Hampshire, including American Postal Workers Union Local #230 and Teamsters Local 633.
