Ayotte Lies Fill New Ad, Warmington Campaign Calls On Media Outlets To Stop Ad, Files Complaint
MANCHESTER, NH — Today, the Warmington campaign is calling on media outlets to pull off their channels an Ayotte campaign ad blatantly lying about Cinde Warmington’s position on a sales or income tax and energy. The campaign also has filed a complaint with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office.
The facts and a long public record, ignored by Kelly Ayotte, show Warmington is a steadfast opponent to a sales or income tax, and has never called for any ban on natural gas or heating oil. In addition, the ad fails to comply with state disclaimer requirements.
“Now Kelly Ayotte is resorting to lies in a last-ditch ad because she knows she’s in trouble, running on a failed record of skyrocketing costs, corruption, and chaos,” said Andrea Cervone, Campaign Manager. “Despite the Ayotte campaign pouring millions of dollars into stale, cringeworthy ads, Cinde continues to close the gap in this race. If Costly Kelly wants to talk about energy, she should start by explaining to Granite Staters why her Public Utilities Commission just rubber-stamped rate hikes and why she rolled out the red carpet for data centers that threaten to send electric rates even higher.”
FACT: Cinde Warmington Will Veto an Income or Sales Tax
Warmington has repeatedly pledged to veto an income and sales tax.
The citation wrongly referenced in this ad says that Warmington “insists she does not support an income tax. ‘I do not believe a broad-based sales or income tax is the right way to go in our state.’ "
FACT: Cinde Warmington Has Never Supported a Ban on Natural Gas and Heating Oil
Warmington is fighting to lower utility costs for Granite Staters, who are now paying 17% more for electricity as a result of Kelly Ayotte’s failed energy policies.
While Ayotte signed a law that rolled out the red carpet for data centers that threaten to send electric rates even higher, Warmington is calling for an immediate data center moratorium.
Warmington supports a temporary suspension of the state gas tax to put money back in the pockets of Granite Staters who can’t afford to fill up their tanks. Ayotte opposes suspending the state gas tax and has been silent on Donald Trump’s reckless war of choice.
The full complaint, a copy of which was sent to WMUR, can be found here.
