Kelly Ayotte Is Becoming Even More Vulnerable Headed Into November
SPRADLING: It’s an interesting race to be taking shape right now. I think if we’d had this conversation just a few months ago, I think there would be this conventional wisdom of it’s a given that Kelly Ayotte will be reelected to a second term. [...] You can spike the football kind of a moment.
But the landscape and what’s happening in Washington, and quite frankly, some of the reaction that we’re starting to see through voter polls to decisions that are being made in Concord, New Hampshire by the state legislature, is beginning to reflect and wear on the governor.
Cinde Warmington Remains Well-Positioned To Defeat Kelly Ayotte This Fall
SPRADLING: But the poll numbers right now between Kelly Ayotte and Democrat Cinde Warmington are competitive. And competitively close. And maybe a little closer than most people would have thought because Cinde Warmington is not a household name. She’s a former Executive Councilor. [...] She is an articulate, tough candidate, and right now that race really hasn’t started in terms of high-profile and general public awareness yet.
But the numbers right now, most recent poll out of the UNH Survey Center, put Kelly only 7 points ahead of Cinde. And that to me is a little bit closer than I would have thought the baseline number would be. And I think that is attributed to this sense of discontent among voters and especially independents about where we are in the world today, both federally, and at the State House level. There are people not happy with the direction we are going, and Kelly is wearing that burden right now.
