With Potential Data Center In Bow, Cinde Warmington Reiterates Calls for a Data Center Moratorium

MANCHESTER, NH — With Bow now confirmed as the site for a potential data center, Democratic candidate for governor Cinde Warmington is reiterating her call for a statewide data center moratorium and community protections. 

On Day One, Cinde will issue an executive order placing a temporary moratorium on large-scale data centers. During this pause, Cinde will champion a regulatory framework built around a Community Bill of Rights that protects Granite Staters, makes sure data centers pay their fair share, and ensures the quality of drinking water.  

Kelly Ayotte has accepted nearly $138,000 from the data center industry while running for governor. Granite Post reporting detailed how the developer behind the proposed data center in Nottingham — which sparked community uproar — previously donated to Ayotte. 

Last year, Ayotte signed legislation that would encourage development of data centers and “make the state more attractive to the cryptocurrency industry.” Proposals aimed at making sure data centers pay their fair share for power usage and equip communities with the tools needed to fight back against data centers all died while Ayotte looked the other way.

So I just learned that there is yet another massive data center planned for New Hampshire, this time in Bow. To be clear, this is exactly what Kelly Ayotte has planned all along. 

That is why she signed that bill rolling out the red carpet for data centers. 

That is why she let bills in the legislature that would have protected local control and our communities die. 

She’s provided no leadership. 

I, on the other hand, have been very clear about my position. I stood with the people of Nottingham. I have called for a moratorium. I have called for a Community Bill of Rights. 

We need to take a pause here. We need to make sure that we are protecting our communities. I will always stand with the people of New Hampshire.
