Warmington Campaign Unveils New Data Center Billboard

MANCHESTER, NH — Today, the Cinde Warmington for Governor campaign unveiled a new billboard in Manchester that highlights how Kelly Ayotte has rolled out the red carpet for data centers and her repeated failure to call for a data center moratorium.

“Kelly Ayotte hasn’t just failed to push back against the expansion of data centers — she’s rolled out the red carpet for them,” said Jon Levin, Communications Director. “Working families’ electric bills have already climbed enough under Costly Kelly’s failing leadership. While Kelly continues to sell out New Hampshire to the highest bidder, Cinde will put Granite Staters first and take immediate action to stop the unchecked development of data centers.”

On Day One, Cinde will issue an executive order placing a temporary moratorium on large-scale data centers. During this pause, Cinde will champion a regulatory framework built around a Community Bill of Rights that protects Granite Staters and makes sure data centers pay their fair share.

Over the course of her political career, Kelly Ayotte has accepted more than $292,000 from the data center industry — including nearly $138,000 while running for governor. A recent Granite Post story detailed how the developer behind the proposed data center in Nottingham — which sparked community uproar — previously donated to Ayotte.

While Cinde is pushing for a moratorium, Ayotte has refused to back safeguards for communities as data centers threaten to drive up electric costs, strain and pollute water resources, and generate unhealthy amounts of noise.

Last year, Ayotte signed legislation that would encourage development of data centers and “make the state more attractive to the cryptocurrency industry.” Proposals aimed at making sure data centers pay their fair share for power usage and equip communities with the tools needed to fight back against data centers all died while Ayotte looked the other way.
