PRESS RELEASE

WMUR: Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Cinde Warmington Calls for Suspension of State Gas Tax

MANCHESTER, NH — In Case You Missed It, Democratic candidate for governor Cinde Warmington spoke with WMUR about her call for a temporary suspension of the state gas tax to provide immediate relief to Granite Staters at the pump.

As Donald Trump’s reckless war in Iran continues to drive gas prices higher, Ayotte has refused to suspend the state gas tax, and hasn’t said a word about the war — even though Ayotte built a national profile around “armed confrontation” with Iran.

Warmington first announced her support for a temporary gas tax suspension at the Bohanan Farm in Contoocook, where she heard firsthand from farmers how rising diesel prices and tariffs are sending costs through the roof.

WMUR: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cinde Warmington calls for suspension of state gas tax

  • Cinde Warmington is calling for a suspension of the state gas tax.

  • The likely Democratic gubernatorial nominee wants to lift the tax temporarily for 60 to 90 days.

  • New Hampshire's gas tax is 22 cents per gallon and generated $188 million in revenue for the state highway fund in 2025. That money goes directly to fixing the state's roads and bridges.

  • "Everywhere you go, this is all you hear is people cannot pay for gas, for food, for electricity, for groceries. They can't pay for health care or child care as the cost of everything is crushing working people," Warmington said.
