Following Gas Price Spike, Cinde Warmington Demands Kelly Ayotte Push Trump for Tariff Refunds
CONCORD, NH — With gas prices surging to $4 a gallon for the first time since 2022, Democratic candidate for Governor Cinde Warmington is calling on Kelly Ayotte to stand up to Donald Trump and demand tariff refunds to deliver relief for Granite Staters .
“Donald Trump’s reckless war with Iran is driving up gas prices for Granite Staters — and Kelly Ayotte is standing by Trump’s price-hiking agenda every step of the way,” said Cinde Warmington. “It’s time she stops cowering in the corner office, stands up to Trump, and demands tariff refunds to put money back in Granite Staters’ pockets. As Governor, I will fight tirelessly to get hard-working families the relief they deserve.”
Trump’s conflict in the Middle East is driving up costs across the board for Granite State families, including gas, heating, and food. Goldman Sachs now estimates that the oil price shock will cost the U.S. economy 10,000 jobs per month.
After Donald Trump lost at the Supreme Court and his tariffs were found unconstitutional, a federal judge ruled in favor of tariff refunds. Several governors across the country have already demanded refunds and pushed for relief to American families, who have paid more than $1,700 each as a result of tariffs. In early March, Kelly Ayotte refused to join a coalition of two dozen states who sued Trump for imposing new 15% tariffs.
